However, we still need your help in getting the word out!

Does your IEEE OU provide funded opportunities for students such as Awards, Fellowships, Grants, etc.? Please submit your funding opportunity here: We will make it available via this web page:

Please contact Kelly Werth at for more information.

Each year, the MGA Outstanding Section Awards are presented to one large, one medium, and one small Section (across all Regions), to recognize their excellent work and successful efforts in fulfilling the educational and scientific goals of IEEE for the benefit of the public.  The recipient Sections are acknowledged for maintaining, enhancing, and supporting the Student Branches, Technical Chapters, and Affinity Groups within their geographic boundaries.

Three awards are presented, as follows:

  • Large Section = 1,501 or more members (including Students) as of 31 December of the prior year;
  • Medium Section = 501-1,500 members (including Students) as of 31 December of the prior year;
  • Small Section = 500 or fewer members (including Students) as of 31 December of the prior year

To nominate your Section for the MGA Outstanding Large, Medium, or Small Section Award, please go to  Follow the links provided to review the selection criteria.

The deadline for submissions is 15 May 2019.  Recipients will be announced in July 2019.

(VoLT) - The MGA Training Committee is pleased to announce the launch of the 2019 Volunteer Leadership Training Program (VoLT). The program continues this year after graduating over 250 graduates to date. VoLT graduates represent all IEEE Regions and over 100 Sections. As a testament to its success, graduates are taking positions of leadership within their local operational units and at the region level.

Participation Criteria - VoLT targets volunteers who have a true desire to learn about the broader IEEE and are considering taking leadership positions within their local units and roles in IEEE committees. IEEE volunteers with 2+ years of volunteer experience in their local units and who have not held a Section Chair position are highly encouraged to participate. The program runs in two phases as described below.  Please read the information carefully.

The IEEE Vision, Innovation, and Challenges (VIC) Summit & Honors Ceremony presents a unique opportunity to connect with and learn from some of the technology “Giants” in the world. These world-class presenters will deep-dive into the most crucial areas of technology today, the impact on the future of industries, and the role that engineers will have serving the global community. It will culminate with the evening’s IEEE Honors Ceremony Gala where we will celebrate the pinnacle achievements of this year’s recipients whose accomplishments have led to the breakthroughs of today.

Nominations are due 15 January annually for the IEEE Technical Field Awards (TFA) and the IEEE Eric Herz Outstanding Staff Member Award and 15 June annually for IEEE Medals and Recognitions. IEEE TFAs are awarded for contributions to or leadership in a specific field of interest of the IEEE. IEEE Medals and Recognitions are the highest awards that the IEEE presents on behalf of the IEEE Board of Directors. IEEE Medals embrace significant and broad IEEE interests and purposes.

In one month, we will bring together global leaders in tech for the 6th annual IEEE Women in Engineering International Leadership Conference (WIE ILC)! This year more than 70+ speakers from companies including McAfee, Qualcomm, VMWare, LinkedIn, and more will share their stories on innovation, executive leadership, empowerment, and disruptive technology.

IEEE WIE ILC motivates and highlights mid-to-senior level professionals as we work to sustain women in tech and help them thrive and grow their careers.
