MGA Awards and Recognition Program

The awards and recognition program of the Member and Geographic Activities (MGA) Board is designed to promote, recognize, and reward excellence in promoting the interests of IEEE as reflected in the operations of MGA and IEEE geographic unit activities (Regions, Councils, Areas, Sections, Chapters, Affinity Groups, Student Branches, and Student Branch Chapters). The program is administered by the MGA Awards and Recognition Committee (MGA ARC).

2022 MGA Outstanding Section Award Recipients Announced

On 25 June 2022, the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities Board selected the following recipients of the 2022 MGA Outstanding Section Awards:
  • 2022 MGA Outstanding Large Section Award recipient is the IEEE Malaysia Section from Region 10.
  • 2022 MGA Outstanding Medium Section Award recipient is the IEEE Columbus Section from Region 2.
  • 2022 MGA Outstanding Small Section Award recipient is the IEEE Galveston Section from Region 5.
Congratulations to the Malaysia, Columbus, and Galveston Bay Sections for being selected for these awards and "for their successful efforts in fulfilling IEEE's educational and scientific goals for the benefit of the public by maintaining, enhancing and supporting the Student Branches, Technical Chapters and Affinity Groups within their geographic boundaries."

MGA William W. Middleton Distinguished Service Award Recipient Announced (Awarded every 3 years)

On 27 June 2020, the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities Board selected Luis Alberto Remez (R9) Argentina Section as the 2020 award recipient. Congratulations to Luis Alberto Remez, "for long-term leadership, commitment, and contributions as a volunteer in supporting the MGA goals and strategies for the benefit of IEEE and its members”.

Friend of MGA Award recipients announced

On 19 November 2022, the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities (MGA) Board approved the following recipient for the 2022 Individual Supporting Friend of IEEE MGA Award:The Honorable Dr. Duncan Rogers Lee, II, Esquire from Region 1, New York, USA. In addition, at its 25 June 2022 meeting, the IEEE MGA Board approved the recipients of Individual and Organizational Supporting Friend of IEEE MGA Award as follows: Ka Man CHAN from Macau, China, Region 10 (Individual), Leap & Scale Foundation, Pune, India, Region 10 (Organizational), and Facultad Regional Resistencia - Universidad Tecnológica Nacional, Argentina, Region 9 (Organizational). On behalf of the MGA Board and the MGA Awards and Recognition Committee, congratulations to the winners and thank you to all the members who took the time to submit nominations.
