Call for Nominations - 2021 MGA Individual Awards Program

You can help recognize the efforts of outstanding volunteers by nominating individuals for one of the prestigious IEEE Member and Geographic Activities (MGA) Awards Program. Each award has a unique mission and criteria and offers the opportunity to honor distinguished colleagues, inspiring teachers, and corporate leaders.

If you know someone who has made substantial regional IEEE volunteer contributions through innovative projects, exemplary leadership, service, or by fulfilling the goals as related to transnational activities, consider nominating them for one of the following awards:

  • MGA Larry K. Wilson Transnational Award
  • IEEE MGA Diversity & Inclusion Award - New Award
  • MGA Innovation Award
  • MGA Leadership Award
  • MGA Achievement Award
  • MGA Young Professionals Achievement Award

Please visit the MGA Award nomination process to review the nominator guidelines and eligibility requirements. MGA awards are peer-recognized awards; therefore, self-nomination is not permitted.

The deadline for nominations (completed nomination form and two letters of endorsement) is 15 October 2021.

Support Open Data Initiatives with IEEE DataPort

IEEE DataPort provides a global data platform that fully supports open data initiatives and gives individuals and institutions the opportunity to manage, share, access, and store research data indefinitely. Members of subscribing institutions can upload open access datasets up to 10TB through an easy-to-use and secure web-based platform supported by the AWS S3 cloud and Individual subscribers can upload dataset up to 2TB through the same easy-to-use platform.

Additionally, by uploading open access datasets to IEEE DataPort, researchers can ensure they are meeting funding agency requirements, which can help secure future research funding. IEEE DataPort now has more than 800 open access datasets in a broad range of categories, from machine learning to signal processing to health science. All open access datasets are accessible at no cost to all IEEE DataPort users, helping support research reproducibility, facilitate discovery, and foster innovation.

Last Chance to Celebrate IEEE Day 2021

IEEE Day is celebrating a hybrid event for the first time in its 12-year history. This year’s theme is “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow.”

While IEEE Day 2021 is officially celebrated on 5 October , to accommodate IEEE Organizational Units that prefer to hold weekend events, celebrations can be held until 15 October. The event submission portal has already been live and will continue to accept events until the deadline. All of the events that have been submitted by the 15th of October will be displayed on the Event Map. Celebrate IEEE Day by sharing your technical ideas with others and leveraging technology for a better tomorrow.

IEEE Day hosts a photo contest and a 60-second innovation video contest as part of the celebration. Both IEEE members and non-members will be eligible to vote (1 vote per entry).

Apply to become a Program Evaluator

The IEEE Educational Activities Board (EAB) is seeking qualified professionals from industry, government, and academic sectors to serve as Program Evaluators to assist in accrediting Engineering and Engineering Technology Programs for the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) and the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC) of ABET, Inc. The deadline for submitting an application is 5 November 2021. This is a strictly volunteer position.

(PLEASE NOTE: ETAC Applicants must be IEEE Members. EAC Applicants must be IEEE SENIOR MEMBERS.)
