New MGA Award Approval Process

Did you know about the new MGA award approval process for Geographic Unit awards?

Effective 2023, all MGA geographic units and MGA Committees must follow the new award approval process. The new process routes all Region, Area, Council, Section, Chapter, Affinity Group and Student Branch new award proposals or revisions to existing awards to the respective Region for final approval.

New award proposals from MGA Committees will be forwarded to MGA ARC and MELCC for endorsement and to the MGA Board for final approval.

MGA ARC will evaluate all proposals for new awards or revision of existing awards. All award proposals must be submitted using the MGA Awards Template and sent to the MGA ARC Chair at mga-awards@ieee.org.

IEEE WIE Climate Tech Big Idea Pitch Competition

This competition is themed “Climate Change and Environment Stability” and has been devised to promote the growth of women-led startups in technical fields by empowering the next generation of female researchers to proactively address the challenges of the climate crisis.

Teams of 3-5 individuals will submit an initial written proposal to the judges team that describes one impact of climate change and a business idea to mitigate it.

Do you have your IEEE Day event planned and registered it in vTools to show on the IEEE Day interactive map? Having an IEEE Day event is a great way to recruit new members and build awareness of IEEE. Events can be in person or virtual and can range from a variety of activities. Encourage your local IEEE Section and/or IEEE Student Branch to get an event planned or help them promote one that is already scheduled. IEEE Day is the annual celebration of the first time in history when engineers worldwide gathered to share their technical ideas in 1884.

Call for Proposals for 2024 ComSoc School Series Events

Since 2015, the IEEE Communications Society has hosted an official international school series event each year where student members can participate in unique experiences to learn about the latest technological developments in key areas of communications.

The IEEE ComSoc School Series is designed exclusively for ComSoc student members and features lectures by international experts, poster presentations, site visits, and hands-on demos on a range of fundamental to advanced and hot topics in communications. The typical duration of an IEEE ComSoc School Series event is 3 to 5 days and can be either in-person or virtual (online only).

We are now accepting proposals through the extended deadline of 30 September 2023 for both in-person and virtual events for the 2024 IEEE ComSoc School Series Program. For 2024, ComSoc is planning to support two in-person events and two virtual events through this program.

We invite you to submit a proposal for a 2024 event now. Please use the proposal guide to create your proposal and include as much information as possible. Submit your proposal no later than 30 September.

IEEE Collabratec Unveils New Navigation and Enhanced User Experience at Global Summit of IEEE Volunteers

IEEE Collabratec has launched an upgraded platform with improved navigation, coinciding with the 2023 IEEE Sections Congress. The platform offers networking and collaboration services integrated with IEEE’s global network. It provides enhanced services to IEEE Members and free access to non-members, facilitating engagement with technology trends and IEEE activities.

The revamped navigation includes a parent bar featuring tools and a search function for streamlined content access. Tabs like Discover offer exploration of IEEE services, while Connect allows users to find and collaborate with fellow peers. The Collaborate tab empowers efficient workspace creation and access to career-related services.

A myCT bar enables quick access to participation-related tools and services. IEEE Members have a verified identity, and can access exclusive services such as certificates of membership, Section and Student Branch hubs, and the IEEE membership directory.

August’s upgrade is the first phase of the site navigation upgrade, with more enhancements planned for 2023.
