IEEE Day 2019 Image

On 1 October 2019, we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of honoring members around the word for IEEE Day! Accordingly, we are planning many exciting activities and events for your members around IEEE Day 2019.

However, we still need your help in getting the word out!

Nominations are due 15 January annually for the IEEE Technical Field Awards (TFA) and the IEEE Eric Herz Outstanding Staff Member Award and 15 June annually for IEEE Medals and Recognitions. IEEE TFAs are awarded for contributions to or leadership in a specific field of interest of the IEEE. IEEE Medals and Recognitions are the highest awards that the IEEE presents on behalf of the IEEE Board of Directors. IEEE Medals embrace significant and broad IEEE interests and purposes.

The IEEE-USA Nominations and Appointments (N&A) Committee asks for your help identifying U.S. IEEE Regions 1-6 members who may be interested in, and well-qualified for, service in the following IEEE-USA Board positions:

·        IEEE-USA President-Elect*

·        IEEE-USA Secretary/Treasurer

·        IEEE-USA Vice President – Career & Member Services

·        IEEE-USA Vice President – Communications & Public Awareness

·        IEEE-USA Vice President – Government Relations

·        IEEE-USA Young Professional Representative

IEEE $1 Million Challenge

Ideas are bigger today—and they should be. Technology is progressing faster than ever before. IEEE members have always created advancements that allow us to keep up with the changing world. The IEEE New Initiatives Committee (NIC) is looking for your help with the next big idea.

The IEEE Vision, Innovation, and Challenges (VIC) Summit & Honors Ceremony presents a unique opportunity to connect with and learn from some of the technology “Giants” in the world. These world-class presenters will deep-dive into the most crucial areas of technology today, the impact on the future of industries, and the role that engineers will have serving the global community. It will culminate with the evening’s IEEE Honors Ceremony Gala where we will celebrate the pinnacle achievements of this year’s recipients whose accomplishments have led to the breakthroughs of today.

Each year, the MGA Outstanding Section Awards are presented to one large, one medium, and one small Section (across all Regions), to recognize their excellent work and successful efforts in fulfilling the educational and scientific goals of IEEE for the benefit of the public.  The recipient Sections are acknowledged for maintaining, enhancing, and supporting the Student Branches, Technical Chapters, and Affinity Groups within their geographic boundaries.

Three awards are presented, as follows:

  • Large Section = 1,501 or more members (including Students) as of 31 December of the prior year;
  • Medium Section = 501-1,500 members (including Students) as of 31 December of the prior year;
  • Small Section = 500 or fewer members (including Students) as of 31 December of the prior year
