40+ Region 10 conference leaders and organizers gathered in Goa, India 17-18 August to participate in a two-day conference workshop. Championed by Director-Elect, Deepak Mathur, the R10 Conference Leadership Programme is expected to establish consistent conference organizing and sponsorship practices across Region 10. Additional on-site workshops are planned for several years in various part of R10.

Amit Kumar, Vice Chairman (Conferences) - IEEE India Council organized the workshop with support from the IEEE Bangalore office. Members of the IEEE Conferences Committee, MCE and MGA Staff participated as discussion leaders and speakers.

Continuing its successful multi-year year implementation, the MGA 2019 Volunteer Leadership Training Program (VoLT) is set to launch on 5 September 2019, with a class of 66 volunteers, 63 mentors, 15 sessions and 12+ speakers.

The Members & Geographic Activities (MGA) Board agreed to pilot the program in 2013, with 19 graduates, and later approved its implementation. Since then, the VoLT program continues to thrive, boasting over 250 graduates by end of 2018. VoLT graduates represent all IEEE Regions and over 100 Sections.

“From the start, the purpose of the VoLT program has been to empower volunteers to become more engaged, take positions of leadership within their units and later within the larger IEEE,” said Loretta J Arellano, a senior IEEE Volunteer from Region 6 and the program founder.

2019 MGA Outstanding Large Section Award is presented to the Bangalore Section in Region 10 – For successful efforts in fulfilling the educational and scientific goals of IEEE for the benefit of the public by maintaining, enhancing, and supporting the Student Branched, Technical Chapters, and Affinity Groups of the IEEE Bangalore Section in Region 10 during 2018.

2019 MGA Outstanding Medium Section Award is presented to the South Africa Section in Region 8 - For successful efforts in fulfilling the educational and scientific goals of IEEE for the benefit of the public by maintaining, enhancing, and supporting the Student Branched, Technical Chapters, and Affinity Groups of the IEEE South Africa Section in Region 8 during 2018.

2019 MGA Outstanding Small Section Award is presented to the IEEE Kenya Section in Region 8 - For successful efforts in fulfilling the educational and scientific goals of IEEE for the benefit of the public by maintaining, enhancing, and supporting the Student Branched, Technical Chapters, and Affinity Groups of the IEEE Kenya Section in Region 8 during 2018.

2019 Supporting Friend of IEEE MGA is presented to King Abdulaziz University – In appreciation of the continued support of IEEE activities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and of hosting and supporting numerous IEEE events.

2019 Supporting Friend of IEEE MGA is presented to Georgia Tech Research Institute – For supporting and promoting IEEE professional activities, encouraging active participation by all employees and contributing as leaders at many levels of the IEEE.
