MGA Award Recipients - June 2021

Outstanding Section Awards

On 26 June 2021, the IEEE MGA Board selected the following recipients of the 2021 MGA Outstanding Large, Medium and Small Section Awards, based on 2020 activities:

  • Outstanding Large Section Award recipient is the IEEE Hong Kong Section from Region 10
  • Outstanding Medium Section Award recipient is the IEEE Argentina Section from Region 9
  • Outstanding Small Section Award recipient is the IEEE Oman Section from Region 8

Congratulations to the winning Sections for being selected for these awards “For successful efforts in fulfilling the educational and scientific goals of IEEE for the benefit of the public by maintaining, enhancing, and supporting the Student Branches, Technical Chapters, and Affinity Groups within their geographic boundaries.”


Friend of IEEE MGA Awards

The MGA Board also approved the recipients of the 2021 Organizational Supporting Friend of IEEE MGA Award to:

  • Penn State Harrisburg University - Region 2
  • Taif University – Region 8

IEEE HAC/SIGHT Call for Engagement

IEEE HAC/SIGHT Call for Engagement

IEEE Humanitarian Activities Committee (HAC)/SIGHT will be offering a Call for Proposals to support IEEE member grassroots humanitarian technology and sustainable development projects that utilize technology to address local realities of the COVID-19 situation, or other issues of pressing community need. HAC/SIGHT will make awards of US$1,000 up to US$5,000 per project. Applications may be submitted starting 12 July 2021 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The final deadline to submit is 16 August 2021 at 11:59pm EDT. Please visit the HAC website for more details.

For members who may not have time or the team members to implement a project directly, we invite you to apply to become a proposal reviewer! US College Professors - Are you submitting a NSF CAREER Grant proposal this summer?

If you are submitting a NSF Career Grant proposal, consider using the new IEEE Pre-University Volunteer STEM Portal in your plans. After you develop your outreach component you can put a description of it in this portal. IEEE members from around the world will be able to find it and use your ideas using it in their community, increasing your impact. It is easy. You can work with your local section officers to Share Your Program on the STEM Portal by uploading a description and program details.
